Week 5 - Remote Learning

Hello Pomona!

This past week has been a whirlwind of emotions. Finding out that the year will be online was calming and gut wrenching at the same time. Having the unknown become clear helps give structure in some areas and removes it in others. Needless to say this whole situation has been a true rollercoaster for Pomona. The best part is that we are learning and always moving in a positive direction.

Although our staff is sad about not returning to school, we are committed to creating the best learning experiences to keep learners motivated, engaged, and happy. Be sure to look for our themes of the week!

During the middle of April  a survey was sent out to all D51 families. We had 72 responses for Pomona. Thank you for completing the Remote Learning Survey. A few of the items I would like to highlight from the survey include:

  • 95% received communication about how and when to contact teacher

  • 85% were able to contact teacher with questions

  • 92% received communication about the online learning routine for your child’s day/week

  • 73% of students were ask to connect with staff for real time lessons

  • 69% of students have been able to connect in real time lessons

  • 77% of parents believe directions are clear enough for learner to work on his/her own

This week and the weeks to come bring a new lens to the traditional end of school year. We are working on the best way to communicate topics such as reporting progress on the fourth quarter report card, to end of year traditions and celebrations.

Parents and guardians please be on the lookout for communication from D51 about Chromebook returns, and picking up items at Pomona.

Thank you everyone for being Pomona!
